Bob Seger, of Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band, was born in Detroit on May 6 of 1945 and began his musical career in 1961 with a group called “The Decibals”. He then teamed up with “The Town Cryers” and “Doug Brown and the Omens”.
Bob once stated that Little Richard and Elvis Presley were the men responsible for getting him started on the road to rock stardom, but Bob had other influences as well. The late, great James Brown had a huge impact on Bob, as well as Van Morrison. It is stated that the first record Bob bought was the old classic “Come and Go with me” by the Del Vikings.
In 1965 Bob released his first single, but it was not until 1968 that he had his brush with stardom. The release of “Ramblin, Gamblin Man” was his first national hit and led to the release of an album in 1969. Success eluded Bob for several years after this #17 hit in 69, people were beginning to think of Bob as a “One-Hit Wonder”.
In 1974 Bob risked it all by starting up “The Silver Bullet Band” and never looked back. He began putting one hit out after another, showing America and the World that he could rock. Here are a few selections
